TORREVIEJA
Torrevieja is in the southeast of the peninsula, halfway between Murcia and Alicante and close to the coast. This salt and fishing village has been fortunate to be located at sea level, between two lagoons and next to a natural park. The city of Torrevieja is in a privileged place.
It is the city of 300 days of sunshine a year, which allows you to bathe on its beaches throughout a year, which has sidewalks along all its coasts. Torrevieja has magnificent beaches along this coastline. The southernmost is Playa de los Náufragos, in the center of the city is Playa del Cura and Los Locos. The most extensive is La Mata, from where you can make an excursion to the Torre del Moro Tourist Viewpoint.
LAS SALINAS OF TORREVIEJA
Sometimes it is not necessary to go to the other side of the world to find (and photograph) the most effective landscapes. In the middle of the Alicante region of Vega Baja del Segura there is a huge pink lagoon of 1,400 hectares that is part of the Natural Park of the Lagunas de la Mata and Torrevieja.
This phenomenon of natural origin, unique in Spain, is produced by a bacterium that releases a pinkish pigment in waters with a high concentration of salt: in the case of the pink lagoon, 350 grams per liter of water, a figure very similar to that of the Dead Sea. It is forbidden to bathe in it, but this unusual sight is well worth a trip to the Costa Blanca. This is the pink lagoon of Torrevieja: a unique natural phenomenon in Spain.
THE GARDEN OF NATIONS PARK
The Garden of Nations Park has numerous green areas that will make you forget the roar of the city, its trees hide most of the nearby buildings on its main avenue, although the park also has open areas so that its inhabitants can enjoy the sun that characterizes the city and one of the greatest attractions, its artificial lake.
The park has its own inhabitants among whom we can find numerous species of birds, native to the area such as ducks, chickens and roosters, sparrows and pigeons. These will accompany your walk in the park and will even approach you with the intention of eating.
Accessible from the two main entrances to the city, reaching this park is very simple, it is a not very crowded and central area, so, in addition to having enough parking spaces, it is easily accessible on foot.
